'Matrix' 1962

'Matrix' 1962 watercolour heightened with white on paper: 380 x 560mm laid down onto card by John Tunnard (1900 - 1971) signed, inscribed G. 13 and dated 1962 to the lower left with a square-cut double overmount with wide bevel fillet insert and single agate line within a closed-corner gold metal-leaf frame rubbed through on sight edges to black bole and glazed, overall size: 780 x 935mm. Between 1900 and 1971 exhibited 35 paintings at The Royal Academy of Arts. On the 24th August 1964 this painting was sold by McRoberts & Tunnard Limited, 34 Curzon Street, London W1  to Mrs Henry Epstein, 880 Fifth Avenue, New York City USA see copy of invoice attached to verso. 880 Fifth Avenue was designed by renowned architect Emery Roth, built in 1948 and was the first building to be completed on Fifth Avenue after World War II and the last of those designed by Emery Roth.
