'Four Leaping Dolphins' 1988 limited edition 5/12 polished bronze sculpture 720mm high including polished green marble plinth by John Mulvey (born 1939), dated '88, numbered 5/12 and monogramed JM to base.
Born in Manchester 1939 a self-taught sculptor, who spent some years as a sheet metal worker, a grounding which he believes influenced his creations, helping him to achieve the essence of his subject with a simplicity of form and an economy of line. Creating figure and animal subjects, the form of which are often bordering on abstraction. He showed at the Expositions Annuelles des Beaux Arts in Paris, winning a bronze medal in 1974 and silver medal in 1976. Commissions have included Rolls Royce Ltd and the Parachute Regiment.
