'Feminine Spirit' 1989 3/200 limited edition polished and patinated bronze 880mm high excluding stand by Dante Liberi (American 1919-2004) signed, dated and numbered.
Growing up in Brooklyn in an immigrant Italian working class family and leaving school in the seventh grade to became and an artist which he did all his life apart from when he served in World War II. After WWII he returned to New York as a commercial artist, designing home decorations and women’s fashions. Most of his artwork was drawn from his experiences in the New York theatres and the ballet companies: Joffrey Ballet and American Ballet Theatre. He became passionate about the art of performance, painting acrobats, tight rope walkers and Harlequins with a keen interest in figurative subjects. Dante said he was not happy unless he was painting or sculpting. His studies of the female form in sculpture are exquisitely sensual and thought provoking. Eventually he moved to Laguna Beach where his paintings were exhibited for several years at Lu Martin Galleries, Anastasia Cafe as well as at the Festival of Arts.
